Meet the Music Team

Mark Markevich is the founder, CEO, and general manager of Markevich Creative Studio - Music. Originally from Latvia, Mark has studied music for 14 years, including 9 years at a music school (trumpet, piano, and vocals), 4 years at a music college (piano and vocals), and 1 year at a music academy (piano and vocals). He also has extensive knowledge and experience in contemporary drumming.

Mark has been a professional musician for over 20 years, performing with various bands (rock, jazz, pop, country, and Latin), orchestras, choirs, and ensembles. He has also done many solo performances and toured extensively throughout Europe and Russia, playing for large audiences of up to 20,000 people. As a European artist, Mark has won numerous provincial and federal music competitions and received multiple awards.

Since 2011, Mark has been teaching music lessons. He has taught piano, vocals, and drums at Music Centre Canada, piano and voice at GPRC Fine Arts Conservatory, and guitar, drums, piano, and vocals at his home studio. As CEO of Markevich Creative Studio, Mark has a strong vision and is passionate about seeing his students succeed, find joy in the creative process, and explore the endless world of music.

  • Jason Picture

    Jason

    GUITAR - ACOUSTIC & ELECTRIC

    Raised in Inuvik, NWT, Jason is a self-taught guitarist starting at the age of 10 and playing in band performances at 14. 

    He has been pursuing his music career full time since 2010 and has been a part of various bands. His band BlackCloud released an album in 2016 with a music video production following it. 

    For 30 years he has been active in his music career, with 10 years of teaching lessons to the next generation of musicians. He is active in the music scene of Grande Prairie and currently working on material for an upcoming release.

    PIANO - CELLO - DRUMS

    Grace is an accomplished musician instructing piano, drum and cello lessons at the Markevich Creative Studio. She has performed as an accompanist for Queen’s University and has served as a private accompanist for instrumental soloists.

    She earned her Bachelor's of Music at Queen’s University in Ontario and went on to further her education at Booth University College and getting Advanced Leadership for Congregations.  

    Today she continues to share the passion and knowledge of music to her students at the Studio.

    Musical interest began at 8 years for Dave. With a piano in the home and supportive parents, his pursuit of music began. Through school, he played the trombone, learned theory, and sang in choir.
    Dave taught himself the guitar in his teen years and began playing with others and writing his own songs. Later he went on to teach guitar, bass, piano, harmonica, ukulele and mandolin. In his career, 

    Dave has played in bands, wrote, and recorded music. He considers it an artform to express one’s  self and connect with others. At the Markevich studio, Dave teaches techniques, chord styles, theory, and playing alongside other musicians. The greatest reward for him is to share the knowledge and enjoyment of the musical path.

    PIANO

    Delores lives life with a love for the musical world. From writing songs and playing instruments at a young age, Delores went on to earn her RCM Advanced Rudiments and RCM Grade 8. Delores has been instructing piano since 2014.

    Delores says the limitless possibilities of life inspires her. She pushes forward and forges her own path continuously. Inspiring others to find their own passions and do the same.

    Madison joined Markevich Creative Studio in October 2022. Sharing musical language with students, particularly beginners of all ages, brings Madison much joy.

    Raised in a musical family, Madison developed a deep love for music, joining the Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir and studying piano through the Royal Conservatory of Music Program, earning various awards and certifications over the years.

    Madison’s training includes RCM level 10 and ARTC Harmony as well as ARTC Analysis.  Additionally, Madison participates in monthly meetings with local composers to create new music compositions.

    GUITAR - UKULELE - BASS - VOICE

    A guitarist from Lacombe, Alberta, Chris began his musical journey inspired by classic rock and heavy metal tapes shared by a friend. 

    Starting lessons with a neighbor, he quickly advanced, began teaching by age 15, and played in bars and original bands throughout high school. 

    After earning a music performance diploma from MacEwan University, he performed with artists like Gord Bamford and in bands including Lost Kauz, Reverie, and Southern Justice.

    Chris has since toured widely, recorded original music, released a solo album, and now teaches in Grande Prairie while performing with Great National Railway and his new power trio blending southern rock, blues, funk, and R&B.

    PIANO - VOICE

    Elaura’s musical journey includes a Bachelor's degree in Music Education with an emphasis on piano. She also has experience in choir and theatre singing. 

    Elaura worked as a high school music teacher in the Philippines, and since 2014, she has been helping students discover their musical voices, whether tickling the ivories or hitting the right notes. Here in Grande Prairie, she works as a dedicated piano and voice mentor for the next generation of musicians, one fun, focused lesson at a time.

    Elaura also handles the Music for Toddlers classes at Markevich Creative Studio.

    Stephanie

    VIOLIN

    Stephanie is a classically trained musician with 28 years of experience on the violin and 26 years on the piano. She holds a deep passion for music education and currently teaches elementary music as well as private violin lessons. 

    Stephanie’s teaching style blends classical technique with a modern, student-centered approach, inspiring young musicians to build both skill and confidence. While she finds timeless inspiration in the works of Antonio Vivaldi, she also enjoys the storytelling and creativity of contemporary artists like Taylor Swift. 

    Stephanie is committed to nurturing a love of music in every student, whether they’re picking up an instrument for the first time or preparing for performance.

    A skilled drummer with 15 years of experience, Kyle performs across a diverse range of styles, drawing inspiration from the dynamic beats of rock, the infectious rhythms of funk, and the vibrant flair of Latin percussion.

     Passionate about sharing his expertise, he brings six years of teaching experience to help students enhance their skills and boost their confidence behind the drum kit. Committed to infusing every performance and lesson with electrifying energy and irresistible groove, Kyle elevates the musical experience for all.
